Environmental guidance for your business in Northern Ireland & Scotland
Aims to reduce emissions and energy use in existing non-domestic buildings.
It introduces a requirement for owners of non-domestic buildings (those over 1,000 m² in area) to undertake an assessment of the greenhouse gas emissions and energy performance of their building if they intend to sell or lease the property.
This will identify improvement targets for the building.
The building owner must then produce a plan that will achieve these targets. Improvement must be completed within 42 months of the sale or lease of the building.
The Northern Ireland Environment Agency has published a short guide to the duty of care responsibilities including advice and information for waste producers, carriers and those accepting, storing and treating waste.
